My instructional video, The Clay Workshop with Elizabeth Priddy, is now available in DVD format with 27 extra minutes of footage. Most of the video was shot by the very professional folks at UNC-TV as part of an instructional show on pottery that aired on statewide television here in North Carolina. I've taught hundreds to throw on the potter's wheel using my unique five part throwing method. This DVD captures the intimate feel of one on one lessons that clears up many small problems that hold back many beginning and intermediate potters. The three camera set allows the demos to show the action and positioning from all angles and for the viewer to choose their viewpoint on several demos. These techniques show small to medium forms which can be used to construct 2 and 3 part pots. Included are demos that show bottle, rice bowl, pitcher, double-wall construction, lemon-juicer, basic bowl, and jar forms. Also included are a simple wheel-wedging demo, an expanded centering section, and a gallery of work.

You can order the DVD by writing to

The DVD is also available in the Amaco Supply Catalog.

I have used this video with my students for several years and found that after viewing the video twice, even an 8-year old student was able to come into class and make an excellent, centered pot during their first hands on lesson. It has also been helpful for intermediate potters who are having pernicious, small problems they just can't work through.

I hope you get a chance to see it, and I hope to hear from you.

By the way, the theme music for the video was produced by my husband, Jeffery Priddy.
